5 ducks worksheet

Five Ducks Worksheet

Teacher will ask the children to point at the ducks on the duck activity page. Teacher will say something like “Look at all the cute little ducks, who can help me count them? Wow, great counting! Who can say quack, quack five times with me?"

After counting the ducks and having fun quacking like a duck it is now time for the children to color the five ducks with either crayons or markers.

Next, have the children use a thick crayon or marker to trace the 5’s on the bottom of the learning worksheet. As the children are tracing the number five teacher will randomly ask one child, “what number are you tracing? Is it the number five?” you will continue asking different children until they have all been asked, asking the children simple questions about what they are doing will them to focus on the activity they are doing and to help them learn the number they are tracing.

Owl Mask Craft

Arts and crafts are an excellent way to stimulate children’s minds. Children will have fun painting and gluing to create their own owl mask. Later in the day they will use their mask to play a game. This fun game will help children to focus on owls, what they look like and how they sound.

Children will be learning about different birds this week with circle time activities, pre reading, math, science, gross motor activites, bird books, songs, crafts and many other fun learning activities.

Bird Shape Puzzle

Bird Shape Puzzle

Children will enjoy learning their shapes with this fun bird puzzle.

Teacher will hold up the bird puzzle and say something like “Does anyone know what shape this is? Yes, that’s right it’s a circle. Which bird is inside the circle? Yes, it’s a yellow chicken. Does anyone know what sound a chicken makes? Can everyone say bwok, bwok, bwok, with me”.

This bird puzzle activity will teach to teach the children the words for a circle, triangle, square and rectangle. Learning about shapes is a great way for children to prepare for early math skills.

There are four different shape cards to print out. Each card has four shapes and different types of birds inside the shapes.

Once all the puzzles are put together have the children play a shape game. Ask one of the children to find the rectangle and hold it up.

Once the rectangle is found ask the children if they know what bird is inside the rectangle and say something like “Yes, it’s a penguin, who knows how to walk like a penguin? Can you copy me and waddle like a penguin?”

Repeat with the rest of the bird puzzle pieces. This game will help to reinforce the shapes and the birds the children are learning about this week.

Bird ABC Match Up

Children will focus on matching up the letters A–B–C–D in this learning activity.

There are 13 bird letter match up cards, the cards have 4 letters on each page and go through the entire alphabet A – Z.

As a group activity children will learn how to help other children that may be struggling to find the letter on their game board. This letter activity helps children to not only learn their letters but to help encourage others to learn as well. Group activities encourage children to learn and to see that learning can be fun.

Parts Of A Bird

Teacher will print out the pictures above and use with the children during science time. Children will have fun learning the different parts of a bird from beak to tail. It’s so much fun for children to compare their feet to a bird’s claw and their mouth to a bird’s beak.

Picture 1 – This picture shows different body parts of a bird in simple colors. It’s easy to point out the different colored body parts of the bird with this full color diagram for children to be able to easily identify each colored area.

Picture 2 – This picture only highlights the tail of the bird to make sure that children focus on seeing exactly where the bird’s tail is located.

Picture 3 – This picture is highlighting the bird’s wing. Teacher can say something to the children such as “Where is the bird’s wing? What color is the bird’s wing?” These simple questions help children to focus and recognize exactly where the bird’s wing is located.

Picture 4 – This picture is a black and white diagram for the children to color. Ask the children some simple questions and see if they can follow some simple directions such as “Can you point to the bird’s wing, great everyone has found the bird’s wing, now can you color it green?”

This is an early introduction to science for little minds to see, learn and remember all the different parts of a bird.

Duck Letter Match Up

“Quack, quack,” this cute little duck is ready to help children learn letters A through M. If children mess up the duck can say, “quack, quack, try again,” until they get it right!

Children will have fun completing this fun ABC game and seeing the progress they make in mastering the beginning alphabet letters.

Quack, quack, we all quack up sometimes and that’s okay. Ducky is happy to keep helping until we have learned all of our beginning letters A through M.

Bird Letters R-S-T

Teacher will hold up the bird letter page and say something like “Look on paper and see if you can find the letter R. Can everyone say rrrr that’s the sound for the letter r. Now take your red crayon and color all the letter R’s on your page, can you think of anything that starts with r, rrrr, robin and red both start with r.”

Repeat with - color all S’s for sparrow (black) and then have the children color all T’s for turkeys (brown).

You could also make it a race to the finish to see who can color all their R’s first.

At the end of the day children can take this page home and have fun pointing out the letters they are learning to their parents.

Coloring letters helps to stimulate children’s brains into remembering the letters that they have been learning. Ask children to point out the different letters on the coloring sheet. This will help to reinforce the letters they are learning.
